Why doesn’t it surprise me that you think this historic building burning down is funny.

There’s no rebuilding after this type of fire damage, the whole tower is up in flames.

This is what I've been saying for the last hour. This says a lot about France in general that they simply had ZERO emergency plan or response to something happening to one of their most historic and iconic landmarks. It really makes you wonder how they'd handle an even bigger catastrophe.

stones don't have to be burning for a fire to cause significant damage to a building like that. there are plenty of wooden elements to a cathedral, especially in the roof structures, and the collapsing spire certainly did not help.

again, i hope the damage isn't too bad (although it looks devastating tbh), i hope no one lost their life, and i hope they were able to save some of the irreplacable artwork. a real tragedy for sure...

To be fair, having such a cathedral in a predominantly Muslim country was pretty offensive and out of place.

Quite a shame this happened but look at the bright side. At least the refugees won't be offended!
