i feel it's likely because of his fire nature (my guess is his father also had a black blade)
when i think why black? I remember how in the beginning he was selling charcoal which is mostly carbon and well black.
so it seemed natural to think that his sword likely plays into that and the black look is maybe because it's high in carbon and it's purpose is to help him bring out strong flames?

Honestly I think this theory is spot on.

idk, when he first acquired the sword they were talking about how people with black swords didnt get far as demon slayers. so not much was known about them.
maybe the sword or the wielder is still incomplete in some way.

the flashback they showed looked like it could have been his father, or at the very least an ancestor of his. that sword looked black AND red.

actually, perhaps thats why they didnt go far... because black does benefit that flame technique. and they werent using the same type of flame style. that could explain why his sword broke while using water.
interesting theory for sure.

that did not play out like i thought it was going to.
the fact that he removed his own head really downplayed the end of the last episode. makes me a little sad.

He was able to slash the blood threads, at least we know he had the power to do so

yeah, i guess so.

that 11th form for the water style looked pretty badass.

his threads got burnt, i think it was a bluff.

the followup to episode 19 felt completely wrong. its whatever though. ill most likely end up skipping 20 whenever i rewatch the show.
