The tax plan helps initially and then butt fucks people later. Typical Trump style, make people happy in the short-term and they'll reelect you without even bothering to look at the big picture.

Same as above with taxes. How about when your kids go to college though, do you think a system where we're paying 50k/year to get degrees in mostly shrinking markets is sustainable? Of course your elementary schools haven't been hit and neither have mine, I don't live in a predominantly black and/or poor area. He's bringing eyes to politics in the most negative way ever and all it's doing is empowering trolls and the worst kind of people imaginable. If the President of the United States can lie with every breath he takes and be loved for it, why can't I?

I've heard nonstop praise for him regarding taxes, even from people who dislike Trump. It's just insane to me how shortsighted people are. He's good at manipulating the masses, you gotta give credit where it's due. It's depressing as shit, but he's the master of being a shady piece of shit.

Seriously? College costs have been skyrocketing at insane rates since I was a kid. How can you blame that on trump?

And since I live an hour outside the suburbs I believe my school district is one of those 'poor' ones that would have been hit. But of course they havnt been hit yet? So when is the bad going to start? 2022? When there could be a new administration in that changes things again? Hopefully a more socialist regime right? Take from the rich and give to the middle class is the saying?

Tariffs have murdered us havnt they? Nope, that's still to come right?

Well then she must have changed her tune. During the debates she wanted to get rid of it entirely. I feel the lakes should be protected and getting rid of it entirely would be the best for the environment, but people need that shit too. This isn't a new thing, the existing pipeline is older than me. She didn't want to agree to it, because it was a republican idea, read the article you posted, instead of just the headline. She just announced she is for it today..

Michigan House Republicans today responded to news that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has taken an about-face on rebuilding Line 5 and is now open to building a multi-use utility tunnel beneath the Straits of Mackinac to house the energy pipeline.

“It seems the governor knows good policy when she sees it but has been too busy placating her political base to do the right thing—until now,” said Majority Floor Leader Triston Cole, of Mancelona. “By stopping Line 5 reconstruction in the first place, the governor created a false crisis, which wasted valuable time and money spent planning for the project and delayed crucial energy rate relief for northern Michigan families.”
House Republicans worked with the Snyder Administration on a solution to replace the aging Line 5 pipeline beginning in 2017. After thorough study, it was determined that building a tunnel 100 feet beneath the floor of the Straits of Mackinac would be the safest option for transporting energy between the Upper and Lower Peninsulas, as compared to other available options like rail transport or trucking.
“I’m glad the governor has finally joined the Legislature at the table on this important issue,” said Rep. Joe Bellino, chair of the House Energy Committee. “Placing a new Line 5 in a tunnel 100 feet into the bedrock beneath the Straits’ floor is the best solution available for keeping our Great Lakes safe from contamination and delivering reliable energy to Michigan residents, especially those in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. We need to set aside the partisan political games for good and get down to the important work of moving forward with this critical energy infrastructure project. Wasting years and millions of dollars on litigation will only extend the time that the aging, obsolete Line 5 sits on the bottom of the Straits of Mackinac.”

I'm glad she is on board finally. Nessel will still fight it and say it's unconstitutional, but she is a shady bitch. Made her name from getting pedophiles reduced charges and/or no penalties. She represented a strip club that had a 14 year old mentally challenged girl working there and said "they are a legitimate business". Look her up I can't believe she got voted in either, but the Republican candidate was just as big of a douchebag as attorney general, but he did go after Nassar for the MSU rapes of all the gymnasts. That's what I mean about most politicians are dirty somehow. I don't affliate with a party, I vote on what promises they make that line up with my values. None of them ever come through with all of it. Not clinton or Obama or Bush or Trump. It's just the way it is.

How dare you say Obama didn't come through on his promises. That's blasphemy around these parts.

Why do you always resort to just spouting out fucking nonsense these days? Never did I blame Trump for the fucked up education system, but I'm not going to support someone who's making it a priority of there's to gut education, which is exactly what I said. I'll never understand the whole mentality of "It's not happening to me, it must not be happening to anyone and if it is, fuck em, they probably deserve it.". I've never promoted socialism, but I do believe healthcare and education should be paid for by our taxes, it's only logical. I've repeatedly said that the rich should have to pay the same as everyone else, they shouldn't be getting to pay $0 for 20 years because they had one bad year, or getting gigantic tax breaks solely because they're rich, while uncle sam takes 30% out of every working person's check.

Trickle down doesn't work, it's never worked and it never will work. The divide between the wealthy and everyone keeps growing and growing and it's the worst it's been since right before the great depression. But sure, let's keep supporting the party that refuses to raise wages, educate it's people, or do anything to actually better the country, because hell, they're shaking things up and getting "more eyes on politics" and it's not effecting me, so who cares if everything keeps getting progressively worse.

Criticizing Dems for wanting socialism tends to be a straw-man argument, as it's usually conflated into communism.

We want to socialize certain things that we're all buying anyway because it would save money per capita (like healthcare). When we're all buying something, we have greater bargaining power when we negotiate as a nation. Breaking down a nation into individual consumers causes us to pay more and receive less because individuals can't really bargain with large corporations. It's not like we want to become communist Russia... we just want to pay less for healthcare by socializing a service that everyone already wants anyway. For all the bluster over increased taxes, individuals will actually save money by not having to buy healthcare, and employers won't have to withhold offering full-time employment because they don't want to shoulder insurance co-pays.

We already socialize things like public education, law enforcement, the fire department, the postal service, and many other government services that we all pay for with our taxes. If you're against socialism, then you should be against those socialized services as well. Basically the libertarian utopia of every man for themselves.
