Every movie needs light hearted moments tbh. They don't have to be as rampant as Marvel movies but you need the tone shifts to create stronger emotions and to help connect to the audience.

Movies that are purely one thing tend to be stressful and boring and disconnected. It doesn't have to be "comedy" per say, but most good movies do have tone shifts.

E: a lot.. A LOT of people tend to deal with stress and stuff through comedy, which is why comedy tends to be the easiest and quickest way to create these moments, which is why it's the most common.

How can you not grin a little right there?

I don't know what comic book relief means but this is one 'superhero' movie I could stand watching. Even seen it two or three times.

Marvel has ruined super hero movies with comedy. It's rediclious. An action packed fight scene does not need comedy. Sounds stupid saying that part of a superhero movie is unrealistic as it is, but forcing comedic relief during fights to the death makes no sense.

I absolutely love Watchmen. It is an incredibly dark movie and Rorschach is such a badass. "Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon." Jackie Earle Haley was perfect for that role.
