I was just looking at the 939 motherboards. they are PCI-e slots as well. You may need to go back to the socket 462 motherboards.
/e I had one of these with a 2800+ in it, but it'll take a 3200+ as well. It played D2 no problem. I even had/still have a Geforce FX 5600 Ultra.
I still have the 2800+ too. No longer have the board though.
