Ethylene Oxide is highly reactive so it's used to kill bacteria and other microbes. The other side of that reactivity is that it reacts quickly. Once you've added it, it's going to react and be gone very quickly. So unless you are exposed to fresh EO, it isn't going to be cancerous, because it is no longer EO. That's why it's the gold standard for sterilizing basically everything. It doesn't linger, and is highly effective.
