Yes, because that's how science works. If you give an explanation that doesn't account for some observations then your explanation is not valid. I have an observation (a viral genome exists and isn't found in normal cells) and you have no explanation for that.

Viruses are more than proteins, they're proteins with a genome that codes for those proteins. So when we find a genome sequence that codes for those proteins, we find that the host cells don't have those sequences in their genome, and we find that when we add the viral proteins with the contained genome that it kills the cells and replicates the genome.... then there's really just one conclusion.

You're trying to focus on viral proteins without understanding that viruses have more than proteins, and any explanation that doesn't account for that is a failed explanation.
