I think this will be a nice computer (for now)! Thoughts?

upgrades:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600
GPU: GEFORCE GTX 1050 2gb
Mother: ATX DDR4 MSI Gaming X370 (AMD)

Stock parts that are staying:

Everything listed in these specs are staying other then the upgrades (cpu, gpu, motherboard) https://www.cnet.com/products/cybertronpc-borg-q-gm4213d-mdt-fx-4130-3-8-ghz-8-gb-1-tb/specs/

Let's say I have $100 - $300 more I want to put into this computer, what should I do? More ram? Bigger hard drive? New power supply?

Would really appreciate all help <3 (:

Well first off all you need some DDR4 RAM. The current ones won't work with the motherboard.
Preferable 16GB since you wanna do video editing.
Also an SSD is pretty much a must.

Thank you so much for this feedback!

Please help answer this - will my computer run (in theory) if I replace with motherboard, cpu, and gpu with this current setup?

Or will it just not work at all because the ram is not compatible?

I'm going to buy a new ddr4 ram this week (please link any 16gb ones that are middle of the road budget and quality)

BUT, will my computer work with replacing the cpu, gpu, and mobo before the ram????

Nope your RAM will physically not fit in your new motherboard. (also they have different voltage)
DDR4 has 288pins and DDR3 240pins. The notch is also placed different.

nope, you need ddr4 ram.

Also, even though you're upgrading to another low profile gpu, i would still get a new power supply to protect your investment. Prebuilt power supply are junk, especially if it's a no name and they're meant for the original prebuilt system. When you're upgrading several parts such as the gpu, it uses more power, and your current no name psu may not be able to handle it when your computer is constantly stressed.

SSD in systems today, is pretty much a must. I really makes a huge difference!

I recommend this SSD and these RAM:

You just keep the 1TB HDD as secondary storage.

Also have you made sure that your current motherboard is ATX as well? Since you need to make sure you case support ATX sized motherboards.

Thank you so much for all of your help guys.

I'm literally going to buy this ssd and ram (unless you have a better suggestion for price point)

If you could recommend a strong but inexpensive power supply, I'd be greatly appreciative

I pretty much want to get pay $300 for ssd, ram, and power supply.

/e I'm almost positive it's an atx, specs says "compatibility: mini-atx"

Fully modular (you less cable clutter). Also pretty neat quality for the price.
But honestly any 450-550W bronze PSU would do.

The question is pretty much if you even need a PSU. Can you take a picture of your current PSU?
Also of your motherboard, so I can see the size of it :)

mini-atx is not ATX.
Here is the most normal PC motherboard sizes:

Thank you!!!!

So I'm not home right now - but here's a video of my old system from 2 months ago when I was trying to figure out what was going on

This is the whole reason why I'm buying new everything, I think the fan stopped, overheated cpu and fried motherboard.

Maybe you can see the mobo size here:

well based on that video, i'd say you made the right call on the upgrades. CPU fan isnt working, so maybe a quick fix coulda been a new CPU fan to see if it'll cool the cpu to allow it to work if not fried. CPU's are really hard to kill, but it happens. Wouldn't make sense to buy a chip that fits that old motherboard, better off purchasing new ram, mobo, cpu.

Also that psu is an ultra LS 500w power supply, basically a no name chinese cheap junk (ShenZhen RuiSheng Yuan OEM), so yes i would replace it to any cheap seasonic bronze psu as it'll be a ton more reliable and safer. Especially if you plan on adding more components that adds more power to your system (ssd, new cpu, new gpu, etc.etc.)
http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page2713.htm

i would not wanna put your new investments relying on an overrated 500w powersupply that barely pulls 336watts and isn't certified, but that's just me.

also u have a mATX board, but your case should be able to fit atx boards as well. Tho if you wanna upgrade to a new case with better airflow, this case is pretty good for the $$ atm. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075J6YSK2/?tag=pcpapi-20
