I just finished building my new rig, and ran into a small problem.
First heres the rig:

I7 8700K
Corsair h100i V2
Asus Prime Z370-A
GSkill Ripjaws V 16Gig DDR4-3000
GTX 970 (1080Ti coming soon)
Seagate PSU 650W
Samsung 860EVO 500GB SSD
1TB HDD WD

Case - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811854042&ignorebbr=1
-

So when building it, I didn't know how to mount the radiator for the cooler on the top, so I mounted it on the front and removed the ODD mount.
When doing this, I had to remove the case fan that was in the front. I couldn't figure out how to mount that on the top either. The only case fan I have installed is the one in the back above the PSU.

So now I have room for 2-3 case fans on the top, but I'm not sure which fans to get or what I can do to mount them at the top.
Any suggestions? Don't care about RGB or any of that.

The top will take 3x 120mm or 2x 140mm

I would just get a couple (2) of these for the top...

/e When you get the fans it will be fairly obvious how to install them...

They will screw on to the bracket circled in RED.

If you didn't order 1080ti yet you should wait for new cards

Id get 3x 120mm for top and front then the single back ofc also with push pull on rad to maximize as much flow

You could try mounting rad top or top front so you can get descent air flow to gpu

What do they screw into though. Theres no holes for the screws to catch on that top bracket. I feel like it needs something on the other side to screw into.

The screws go "through" the holes in the bracket and INTO the holes in the fan.

/e Sometimes the screws will have nuts...but they go on the same way. If your lucky the fans will have threaded holes for the screws.

Maybe its different on the fans that came with my case. The screws dont screw into the fan on the phanteks fans.

They also didn't come with nuts either. Do the corsair ones linked above screw into the fan itself?

That I couldn't tell ya.
Generally fans come pre threaded for lag-type screws that come with the fan. Or they just have holes and a nut and bolt type instead.
Some just have holes, but still use the lag type screws.

If you look closely at the bracket that comes with your case, you will see that it has holes all over the place. That's so it can fit 120mm or 140mm fans.
generally if you have the option (which you do) go with the 140mm fans, as they can move the same amount of air while making less noise.

/e W/e manufacturer's fans you buy will have a method to attach them to that bracket. Either lag type screws, nut and bolt type, or sometimes just a rubber dongle thing.
But don't worry all fans come with the stuff you need to attach them. :)

Yeah, I see all the holes. But they are just holes. They have no threading on them, and theres nothing to put a screw into.
I'll see if I can get some pictures. Give me a moment.

Yeah, thx to the great product pics at Newegg.com we can see that those fans come with the lag type screws. They will self thread into the holes in the fan.

The lag type screws are just a teeny bit bigger than the holes in the fan, and have really sharp threads. they are "self threading".

/e Have a little faith. I've probably put in and removed only about 1000 case fans. :)

I have a full tower case that has 7 fans, all with the self threading screws. Even my two fan CPU cooler, uses the same method. :)

/ee Btw, here are the specs for your case... Top: 3x 120mm or 2 x 140mm.
