Hey guys,

So my laptop keeps putting itself to sleep after like 10-15 min of no activity, even though I have it set to never sleep in my power options.
Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks in advance for the help. :)

What's inside "change advanced power settings"?

I'm gonna make a bold guess here and tell you to set values from x to 0 there. Or if it's set to 'never', try putting 34128481 minutes.
But I wanna see a screenshot anyway.

Also what brand of a laptop and OS are you using

edit2:
try bolded part
let us know

You can also check if by any chance you've got any energy managment software installed that overwrites OS settings.

Here's my advanced sleep settings:

It's a Asus X751 running Win10
1 external monitor.

Tried this and it didn't accept the changes, it went back to "Never"

why not? are you running the system as an admin?

edit:
yes, please let us know

btw sometimes that kind of software comes along with the laptop when it's purchased, that's why I wanted you to check this

edit2:
@Vincenzo
messing in registry would be my next step :ph34r:

None that I am aware of.
I never download anything on this laptop that isn't 100% known and trusted.

As far as I know everything runs as admin.
Is there some way to run or change the power options as admin that I'm missing?
Super confused. lol never ran into an issue like this. :wacko:
I'l give it some time and see if it's still happening

You need to edit the 'System unattended sleep timeout' registry. Google it, plenty of guides, just don't want to post link here.

Not really helping with your question. But you should disable UAC either way.

Tried this with no success. It didn't show up on the list where it's supposed to.

Still looking for assistance with this issue. If anyone knows of a fix please let me know!

disable UAC & you can kiss installing ANYTHING goodbye. Programs require UAC to be enabled in order to install properly, otherwise they lack proper Elevation requirements.

Just a question like that, did you change any hardware on your Laptop recently? If yes, it may be the cause.

When i upgraded my PC a few months back, my Windows got messed up. He was no longer going to sleep despite having it activated(with many other problems, but its outside of your original question).
I tried a lot of thing, but nothing worked. The only way i was able to fix this was by formatting my Hard Drives and reinstalling Windows 10.
