My second steak

before, salt, pepper and herbs

cooked with canola oil, adding garlic, thyme and butter later on
my main concern was that it came out grayish brown during the cooking process on the bottom side instead of the golden brown i've seen in so many steak cooking videos
couldn't seem to get a lot of fluid to baste the steak with either, do i need a shit load more oil/butter?

this tasted better than the last one despite being a $4 slab of meat though i suspect it's mostly the butter causing that effect?

also i'm a tad concerned about how healthy this is what with using a spoon full of butter and all

the herbs are blocking it from contact with the pan, which is where the browning happens. wait til after for them. and the pan probably wasnt hot enough either.
