I've been going to the gym for a year now, and this is something that has developed over the past 6 months, but on my off days of the gym I get pretty depressed and find little to no pleasure in doing anything for the entire rest day.

What could be the reason for this?

I go 3 days on 1 day off 2 on 1 off repeat.

The days that I go to the gym I have more energy, feel amazing, get a lot done.

Could it just be you don't have any other enjoyable hobbies.

I am a pretty big gamer, but on my off days I don't really find enjoyment in them. I think the Gym splits my day up more.

I do this as well. Stretch roll, whatever really if I have nothing else planned on that off day.

I'd be pretty depressed too if I knew I wasn't making gains on those days and living my best life.

I feel you. I am the same way... I just find a way to workout everyday. Instead of an off day make it a light day or something.

Honestly, I’d try speaking to someone about this.. Depression isn’t a joke, and d2jsp is kind of a shit place to find advice on it.

This. I've dealt with it before, I'm on medication and seeing a therapist now, and there's just no replacement for professional help.

what ive recently discovered, and its no secret. but is to have and make some goals, and to work towards them. a good portion of depressed people (average person) when asked what there goals are they dont have anything to say. when you have goals you're actively working towards you wont have time to be depressed. it really made a lot of sense to me, before i had no goals no ambitions and was depressed. but now that im thinking about what i want out of life it gives me a high and knowing i can achieve something if i focus and put in work is a really great feeling. good luck, ps i dont just mean "i want to lose this amount of weight x" goals not related to fitness, financially, relationships, career, etc etc. make up some goals
