I can't overstate this enough, please do not listen to people on the internet who say "you just need to do x". I have been depressed while eating healthy, exercising, hanging out with friends, in a relationship, with a good job, etc etc. Please see a professional.

See a professional and consult with them.

Something that came to mind for me is that you could have trouble producing/maintaining your serotonin.

Thats not the point. Dont do „x” coz we say so, try doing x if you feel like you can benefit from it. Nobody says depression isnt serious, my suggestion was a legit anwser. If you benefit from going to the gym both mentally and physcially, why not? Maybe it helps him socialize, makes him feel like a part of a group, idk.
Seeing a proffessional on the other hand is mos def something you should do.

I mean don't get me wrong, I agree you should eat right and exercise and stuff, but don't skip out on seeing a doctor.

i guess the days you go to the gym you feel accomplished/rewarded so i guess on your off days you gotta do something that induces the same feeling.
idk ive never really been depressed but there have been days where im just sad/lethargic. it happens.
itd be easier to help you if we actually knew you so i guess talk to a good friend and/or see a professional like others have mentioned.

this, sometimes you gotta treat yourself. im not a vegetarian or a vegan but i don't eat a lot of meat, i avoid dairy and eat a lot of vegetables for acne reasons and i guess its also just healthy.
but every now and then i go to 5 guys and get 2 cheeseburgers and a milkshake bc i need my sanity.

edit: i searched your post history, it looks like you play WoW. quit that shit. game fucking sucks.
