If we (humans) don't stop over-breeding, we won't have to worry about the ethics of eating dogs, we will have to worry about the ethics of eating humans instead.

Another take on the same issue...

No.

But same goes for any other conscious animal.

So what is your solution to maintain stable ecosystems in and out of urban environments if humanity as a whole decided to remove eating meat from any source?

And synthetic meat in the future doesn't fully solve this moral dilemma. If you remove hunting completely, how do you solve potential ecological disasters due to overpopulation of certain animals because there would be no efforts or no predators to keep their populations healthy.

No1 think that should be done in one day, except maybe some vegan sects fanatics. Human will progressively slow down eating meat for the major benefit of there health.

It can be socially acceptable depending on where you reside. Its not just that people like dogs better. I think its also because dogs possess some qualities we tend to universally respect such as loyalty and so even those who arent dog fanatics still feel wrong about it on some level. It cuts too close to the bone

id rather eat a dog steak than a hotdog. once you've been inside of a meat processing plant you think a bit differently about meat tho.

I don't know enough about the issue to give an insightful answer, but immunocontraception is one such solution. There are methods of population control other than culling.

But this is merely a logistics problem.
