I look at it pretty simply - humans are animals. Animals eat other lifeforms, whether it be plants or other animals. This is a fundamental requirement to being alive. Therefor I think it's reasonable that a human would eat another animal, regardless to what that animal might be. And that's basically the end of the debate as far as I'm concerned.

There may be moral objections to eating dogs, but human morals are insignificant compared the larger forces of nature (in my opinion).
There may be severe health hazards to eating some animals. Hazards like parasites, toxins from biomagnification, neurodegenerative disorders (eating human brains for example), and other things I won't bother listing.

I personally wouldn't eat dog. But if somebody else wants to eat dog, I don't think its my place to tell them they cannot. Just as it is not my place to tell a lion she cannot eat a gazelle.
