People do have the right to eat dog... maybe not a 'right' in the US

its even legal in 43 states...

Quote
As of 2018, it is legal to eat dog meat in 43 states. The only states outlawing its consumption are California, Georgia, Hawaii, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia. It is, however, illegal in all states for slaughterhouses to handle dogs, and for stores to sell the meat.

Some cultures view the consumption of dog meat as part of their traditional, ritualistic, or day-to-day cuisine,

It was estimated in 2014 that worldwide, 25 million dogs are eaten each year by humans

I would vote yes

i think the real question is whether or not horse meat should be consumed. While humans are naturally closer to dogs we owe a far larger portion of our success to horses. Should we repay these majestic beasts of burden by eating them? I think we should bury every horse 6 feet under where the coyotes wont get at them.

Good meat to eat, while giving a reasonably good life for the animal... In most cases at least. Not using its meat means needing an extra meat cow.

Dunno how the US is on this subject, but shooting wild life to keep numbers within margins is meat I would pay more for, if it were to be presented as such in supermarkets.

that's true enough indeed, it does mean an extra dead cow.

sadly in the US there is a LOOOOOOOOOT of red tape around buying harvested meat. so it's very hard to commercialize the sale of stuff like venison. however, i try to get as much as i can from others and give out plenty in return. hunting to prevent overpopulation is huge in Wisconsin, i wish it was a bit easier to buy commercially, but it's all over the place if you know hunters.

I'm sure 2019 women will love going back to the societal role of hide scraper and jerky fire stoker.

Commertializing it too much and you don't have wildlife anymore though, there is ofc a balance to be made, looking different in the US than here obiously. I do like like the moderately used libertarian approach of civilians hunting for meat within margins. And at lower number we do have more regulated hunters. I dont entirely know where the meat ends up, apart from restaurants serving it. principle remains, not wasting protein is important now, and even more in the next 30 years. /e: The meat industry is emitting as much CO2 (or eq.) as the entire transport in our countries.
