Not much is known other than what the article already mentions.

The 34-yo of Iraqi descent is Hardi N. , known to the police and was convicted for preparing a terrorist act (coinciding with his attempts to travel to Syria). In that court case he said he never had the intention to join armed forces in Syria. "I'm religious, but I'm not radical. Radicals see me as a apostate because I work for the government. I wasn't planning anything crazy."

During the rehabilitation part of his sentence, he was making positive headway. He was being treated for PTSD and getting back in touch with his family and daughter. He also was forbidden to contact Seyed H., Adil C. (both implicated in the foiled plot), and his wife. Rehabilitation agents thought his social network and his incredible need for purpose and to belong were a large risk. What has happened after that (between 6th of October 2017 and now) is not yet clear.

Pretty happy that we managed to foil it, still no successful terrorist attack in my country :)

And DSI (Terrorism task force of the police) did their job very well too. All suspects apprehended, no shots fired. Professional. Still love this picture of them at another incident:

Update: https://nos.nl/artikel/2252476-grote-hoeveelheid-grondstoffen-voor-explosieven-gevonden-bij-terrorismeverdachten.html

In one of the houses that was raided the police found 100kg of fertilizer, likely to be used for a car bomb. Other materials used in bomb vests were also found. The materials were found in a house in Arnhem. The seven men who were arrested yesterday night, will remain in custody. They have restricted access, meaning that they can only contact their lawyer at this time. The men are suspected of preparing a terrorist attack on a large event in the Netherlands (multiple are on the calendar soon). At the same time they wanted to have a car bomb detonate in another location.

thank god your police did a good job, but you do realise the mistake in the whole thing?

rehabilitation is something for pickpockets and not for terrorists

Except for the fact that due to rehabilitation(parole?) police had a constant eye on their movements. Along with neighbourhood watch contacts (imams and old men) it was easy to keep solid watch on the suspects. New reports show that the municipality had this group in their sights starting somewhere in 2009. After attempts to travel to ISIS-related areas intelligence efforts increased.

What has happened is only possible because of a lot of intelligence gathering and the right actions taken with that information. Now they've been caught in the act, which means you can arrest an entire concentrated cell of criminals instead of just one or two.

dont get me wrong, this is a success and with the police background i have i can see the reasoning behind the operation

however as i said we are not talking about thieves or drug dealers, where you can take some time to arrest the whole bunch without a big problem

eventually somebody will slip through and an attack will happen though, just like it did in germany with the christmas market terror attack
the culprit was also under investigation and surveillance, in custody several times and it didnt stop him
the manpower needed is ridiculous, no police force in the west has enough guys to watch all threats
my point is that most of these things leading to the situation should never happen in the first place

one can only hope that your authoritites will continue to be as good and efficient
my dad worked with dutch police units several times and had only the very best things to say about them
