I hear people say "imported items" a lot.

Tried doing research, only heard that it was a method where the item is made on open bnet/d2pk/something like that, then somehow transferred to closed bnet.

I also heard that is wrong.

Anyone care to explain?

importing was possible for a period back in the stone age of d2. like 16 years ago.
there was also a brief window where it was possible to bring nonladder items to ladder. on east that's why there was an upgraded gvalk and why there were unperm btals on ladder for one season.

these days it is not possible. people say items are "imported" when referring to rerolls. There's a strong argument for it, such as the fact that these item sites posted hundreds of similar circlets on multiple realms overnight. Some were even identical.
Any one of them was better than the #1 circlet on the realm just a few days prior. I remember a time when the best assassin circlet on east was a 2sin/20fcr/30frw/2os plain circ. Now you can't even sell one without life or rep on it.
But they're not imported. Some of them are rerolled using duped materials, and some seemed to be rerolling without using up materials at all. Some, like the claws and berserker axes, are high qlvl bases imbued over and over.
