Gbane comes to mind as an old zeal/conc armor.
Optionally they could just beat the bear to death since he uses a low damage low ar attack that can be interrupted. Every time the bear blocks he loses 2 attacks.

how would this sin hold up against a brawler barbarian? (bvc thrower hybrid) or a v/t?

e/ or I guess melee characters with ranged attacks

To answer all questions above in a simple manner,
This guide is a 2-way Sin build with very adaptive setups that have very good strength Vs 2 very different kind of opponents.
If one of the setups isn't working against your opponents, what ever he is, just switch for the other setups and it becomes a very different game.
So who can find a way to have all at the same time the ways to counter one of the very different ways to kill someone, both scenarios having 3 different types of dmg at least?

/E : also, I concider bowazon like caster, and smiters too
V/T is a caster too for the purpose of choosing the right setup to use against
Doesnt take a huge brain to figure out which one to use against any classes once you get used to it

I know I didnt take enough time to explain in the initial post, but the Vs Melee setup is restricted to a few builds, while the 1st setup is vs casters, all elemental, magic dmg (hdin/bones), all Zons, smiters, and in an alternative to someone that would have enough old gear adaptation to neglect 100% of all 3-4 sources of dmg so he can't lose his last point of life.

Also, about the bone necro, from experience I can assure you that a lvl 59 SM will break your bone armor quite easily. But even if you had some kind of glitched 100% immune to physical dmg, there's venom, traps equivalent to a trap sin's dmg, both light and fire, and possibly elemental dmg on one her claws, just enough to deliver that last point of dmg you all seam to be concerned about.

All ranged = casters, for the purpose of choosing which setup to use

Both V/T's form of attacks (smite and foh) have always been spells for me haha

You won't kill anyone decent with this sin, can prob kill randoms in pubs tho for sure
