recently moved and now i have a basement, and with work and school i haven't had time to go to the gym as much as i would like

invested my tax returns into building my own gym

Titan HD T-3 Power Rack (Rogue R3 clone)
---Dip Attachment
---Spotter Arms

Body Solid GFID100 Bench
---Preacher curl attachment
EZ Curl Bar OB47
Olympic BarOB86 (I regret not doing more research and spending a little more to get the CAP OB-86)
T-Bar holder for rack TBR20 (basically a landmine attachment, but I bought the wrong one, so I will need to fabricate an adapter)

All of the above mentioned ran me $999 shipped to my door. A mixture of fedex and freight shipping.

I have extremely low ceilings in my basement (80" at the rafters) so I had to cut about 7 inches off of the top of each upright beam. I mounted the front pullup bar at its lowest position and am able to do pullups although my knees almost hit the ground when I am all the way down (6' tall)
It is also supposed to be bolted to the floor, but this thing is literally jammed up into my rafters. It's not going anywhere for the time being! We'll see how it holds with heavier weight

I ended up getting a package of weight at Dick's which ran me $219.99+tax (255lbs + a 7' 45lb beater bar which is in the rack, I use it primarily for squats so I never have to take it out. My better bar is used for everything else)

The mats I got for $40 a piece at Tractor Supply Co... 4'x6'x3/4" solid rubber recycled tires... they are intended as horse stall mats, so there is no type of compression. I want to get at least one more as well.

I'm using my guitar amp with an adapter and aux cord to play music... lol. The lighting is pretty shitty down there, but the pictures seemed to come out better on my phone if I used flash... unfortunately the quality is shit lol. I'll get some better ones as I continue to add on.

Still need:
more weight. this will only last me a few more weeks. currently deloaded 50% and following the stronglifts 5x5 to get back in the swing of things.
Industrial size fan
Wall Mirrors
Better Lighting
Sound System
Another mat or two
Dumbbells! (looking on craigslist)
Ab straps

Nice setup dude.

I grabbed the mirror I use at a garage sale for $8 and another one at a good will for $10. Large bathroom mirrors. Just needed to grab hardware from Walmart.

http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=72818725&f=60 this is my roller coaster progress thread.

This was the thread about my setup.

I do everything inside my rack. It works great.

love your setup as well! that rack was at a steal, that entire website has pretty good prices... they must get ya in the shipping... saw a cable crossover tower for $350... so tempting haha.

im planning on hitting goodwill this weekend to grab some lighting and hopefully mirrors.

yeah, have to do them seated. I always did them seated at the gym anyways, so it isn't a big deal for me :P

meh, this is what i figured

i looked at it as an investment with a greater upside than downside

i now have absolutely no excuse not to work out, unless i am away from home
this gym equipment will be good for the rest of my life, weights don't go bad when treated with care.
the cage allowed me to expand, although i will never have as complete of a setup as paying for a gym would
and my current gym was $20/month with a $60/year charge, so thats $300/year. this will pay for itself within 5 years
plus, its so fucking convenient to be able to squat ass naked blaring music that i want to listen to, then walk upstairs and have shit cookin and be able to shower, no commute or any other inconveniences. even though my gym was 24/7 M-Th, it closed at 9 Fri Sat Sun, which didn't always fit with my work or school schedule
