120, or even 100 to be safe + whatever the bar itself weighs... that's not too bad! I'm definitely not pushing that on many lifts, yet! will definitely consider...
now, what are your thoughts on a smooth collar vs a grooved collar? i noticed that my more expensive bar is smooth, which makes moving the clamps much easier... my beater bar from Dick's is grooved, which makes moving collars a bitch, but it does seem "grippier" and that is definitely something that is crucial in adjustable dumbbells... i was lifting at a buddies house once with standard dumbbells and the twist-threaded collars, and it gave out and i almost crushed my face while decline benching. idk if it was stripped or what, but never again, man... i love the feel of a standard hex, but buying a whole set would either A) extremely expensive, or B) take a ridiculously long time to piece together a sufficient set from craigslist
very thankful for your efforts, btw. this pow-wow will go a long ways

My barbell is grooved and it's annoying as fuck. My ez curl bar isn't grooved at all and I enjoy it a lot more.

I never use my clamps on my barbell just because of how annoying it is to get them on. I would choose a smooth one if I had a choice between the two.

Impressive. I've a full gym in my basement finally. Treadmil/Stair Stepper/Bench/Pulley system for pull-downs from ceiling etc. Ropes/Straight bars/Curl bars etc. Took me years to get everything.
To your point though, it's far from a waste of money. Oh I should add, the one thing I've yet to get, is a rack. I still go to a cheap gym to do leg presses and squats lol.
Nice speaker too.

Love the look of your basement, huge potential down there, better keep going.

Check kijiji/craigslist if you're on a budget, especially for weights.
