Sharks get Nyquist
Dallas gets Zuccarello
Vegas gets Stone
Nashville gets Granlund and Simmonds

Oof, all the good west teams loaded up. Oh well, this isn’t the year to blow prospects on rentals. We’re 2nd in the league with this team as is. Might as well let it ride.

I'm okay with it, outside of Stone and Granlund, I dont feel like anyone on that list massively improves the Flames. A lot of jamming a square peg into a round hole. The price that Nashville paid for Granlund is mind boggling to me, that deal is the best of the day for sure.

Likely Stone to Calgary died when we wouldnt give up either Vali or Andersson, which once again I'm good with.

Would have been really tough. Something like ~19 Mil to sign Stone, Bennet, Chucky, Rittich and/or Smith. Would likely have been do-able but still really tight.

E: really glad we didnt make a big splash for a rental, we dont need to do it this year.

19 mil gets you stone and MT with pocket change too spare. I thought it was going to be pushing the cap to get your curent line-up set for next year without stone.

Well Rittich too, but ya our situation could be a lot worse.

Negotiating so hard with Gaudreau to get 6.75, then throwing a 9.5m contract at Stone might cause some drama too. Tkachuk being the highest paid flame next year already might be kind of weird.

The scale has changed since gaudreau was signed, that 6.75 is the same # as 9.5 is today or very close. 97’s contract moved the bar up a lot.

same % of cap as previous benchmark contract . You could say players union ruined it all. But since your a dirty socialist you probably oppose the owners making suitcases full of cash while the players aren’t really sure how much profit is being made of their stolen labor.

It’s true im a dirty socialist, which also means I don’t have sympathy for a guy making 7m instead of 8m though
