i mean if they wanted to try to be a winning team still dubois was a 60-70 guy its not a big downgrade points wise

i dont think we pay to cap dump him hes not that bad and were going into a rebuild giving up picks/prospects to move him is not likely something they want to do think they would rather ride it out with him at that point
i know before fletcher got fired the rumors were flyers were willing retain some salary but wanted a decent return but fletcher was pretty useless im not sure what briere is cooking up for hayes if anything

but yeah if the jets are going into a rebuild hayes probably doesnt go there but if they wanted to try and keep winning he could be a reasonably cheap 2c replacement

Nobody is paying for a 2nd line center making over 7M with term over the age of 30.

Retain half and you probably get a 2nd.

But yeah it doesn't make sense for the Flyers to pay for cap dumps anyway.

kadri 7m kuznetsov 7.8 huberdeau(10.5m extension kicking in) duchene 8m couture 8m cirelli 6.25 (43 point career high)
when you compare to some similar producing centers this season hayes isnt looking too bad at 7.1 and the cap is going up meaning players contracts go up

i think hes tradable at 7.1 he wont fetch a whole lot but if flyers retain 1-2m the return should be pretty decent and his "term" is 3 seasons thats not even that long
plus hayes hasnt really shown signs of slowing down from age so its not like your taking an aging player thats already on the decline with 3 seasons your likely to get 2-3 good seasons out of him

but yeah i dont really see hayes being a cap dump move they arent forced to trade him due to cap reasons its mostly cause him and torts hate each other and torts is clearly sticking around
flyers are potentially selling a couple players they might trade them for bigger returns and sit on his 7m to reach cap floor and torts can deal with it

Hearing that Flyers Associate Coach Brad Shaw is among those still in the running for the Head Coaching jobs in Anaheim and Washington.

About time he gets a head coach gig, dude is one of the best defensive coaches in the league.

[Frank Seravalli] Sources: Dave Nonis will be joining Flames alongside incoming GM Craig Conroy in a senior management role. Ownership was very impressed by Nonis in interview process. Belief is Jarome Iginla will also be in the fold in an advisory or consultant role to start.

Cronyism all around. Ex Flames and Nonis is close to both Maloney and Murray.

Not that it's necessarily a bad hire, he has a lot of experience he can share with Conroy and Iggy.

And who knows if Conroy is any good or not.

Also lol @ Flames not allowing Tre to interview elsewhere.

So basically what happened was Conroy always had the job. But giving it to him right away would have looked bad, like they settled for the 2nd in command instead of searching. So they leaked that they were interviewing problematic/garbage GMs like Bergevin and Bowman, who isn’t even eligible to hold an NHL job right now in all likelihood. Then, surprise, Conroy looks good when compared to those guys, and it doesn’t look like cronyism when he wins.

But whatever, Conroy is very well liked here. Mostly the Treliving drama showed that owner Edwards is extremely involved in day to day stuff, which is horrible.

I mean, Conroy a first time GM, I personally wouldn't call it that. Old boys club to me is recycling the same coaches/gms that have held jobs across half the league, most without any major success.
