Later in life you look for more wholesome values and find a person that meets x criteria.

Or maybe you're referring to Christians being oppressed. In which case I have no idea. I certainly don't see it in Canada.

They aren't oppressed in a political manner, more of a sociosphere where they are oppressed. It is more that people's beliefs aren't as respected as they could be and people are often shamed for being theistic.
