the comparison bush/trump (as well as the clinton presidency) imho shows one thing above everything else: making the right decisions is more important than personal conduct.

Trump talked about killing the families of suspected terrorists on the campaign trail and supported torture.

He amps his base up on being tough on poor immigrants fleeing poverty

He supports the authorities being more abusive on citizens

Not exactly a person I want to be in charge if we are ever large scale attacked here again and that war drum of "patriotism" starts being banged on once more

George W. Bush led us into a war that killed thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians under false pretenses. He and his administration oversaw many war crimes. We can blame lots of people and both parties for some of these atrocities, but ultimately George W. Bush was at the center of it all. We shouldn't forgive him because he paints cool pictures for veterans or seems like a nice guy.

That blood is on a lot of hands. As someone that protested the war early on I saw many people wanting revenge when the wound was fresh and now people have united to lay all the blame of our dirty "patriotic" deeds on few when it was many that contributed

It's not I that has a place to forgive his part but I understand how many people played a part in sacrificing more of ours and even more of theirs for revenge in the name of patriotism
