"This is a good team, I'm a good coach ... But sometimes you can only push so far," Maurice said, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. "Sometimes a team needs a new voice. They haven't quit on me but need a different voice. It's the right time for it, and I know that."
"I love these guys. I love this place. I know that it's time, and that's a good thing for the Jets. It's also a really, really good thing for me," Maurice added, according to NHL.com's Nick Cotsonika.

He def lost the room. Seen the writing on the wall. And got ahead of it.
Good on him going out on his own accord though.
Many good coaches out there right now.

Embarrassing when the front office don't have the balls to make a change so he does it himself.

The general public around here has wanted him gone for a long time now but I fear they'll scare any real coach away.

The fans here are easily the worst in the league

Also kind of sounds like Maurice has a job lined up

Weird comments for a coach that has never accomplished anything. But I don't know if I can blame him the way the industry and media pumps his tires as if he was a top-tier coach when he's done nothing to prove it.

Lol, you should see how many Canucks fans tell me we have the worst fans and media in the sports world and how it's the main reason we've sucked so bad over the past decade or so.

If you're good and successful fans will be happy. I imagine the reason why many aren't happy with Maurice is because the Jets have had some pretty good rosters on paper but have never really reached their potential.

i think if it was a lesser quarantine period it would be considered
but then with omnicron hitting the league so hard postponing so many games they are goig to need that time to try and reschedule games and that was one of the reasons they could fall back on for a no

fuckin omnicron bro basically fucked us out of nhl olympic hockey
