Unfortunate 2-0 defeat for Mallorca away against Valencia.

We hit the post twice, and they scored two stupid penalties. Mallorca played well, and completely dominated Valencia during a wonderful first half, but the team's lack of top flight experience resulted in missed chances and penalties you can't afford to concede in Primera. It's a real shame we didn't get at least a point, because a club the size of Mallorca doesn't often get such a chance in a stadium like Mestalla... but alas, these outcomes are to be expected this season.

ffs, FC Utrecht 2 losses in a row vs "bad" opponents…
They have besides Ajax and PSV one of the best line-up according to critics.
Alot of ppl said before the season started a certain 3rd to 6th place..
they should step up their game!!

LB Rahman Baba on loan from Chelsea to Mallorca. That move and a 3rd choice gk have been the last signings of our summer window.

Not great over all, but it's understandable given our extremely limited resources. Our team, if we look at individual talent and top flight experience, is garbage compared to pretty much every other squad in Primera... on paper we should have no chance of avoiding relegation with these players. However, I have faith in the team management skills of our coach Vicente Moreno and also on the amazing group of friends the dressing room is, which make the team work like a clock in almost every game (even when we lose). Every game the lads play their hearts out.

Honestly, the overall feeling among the fans is that we're likely going to go down, but we'll be damn proud of the team no matter what happens because of how committed the team is.

he was a beast at augsburg. guy certainly had potential, let's hope that chelski didn't completely destroy him.

Good to hear and thanks for the inuput. He hasn't been getting too many games in recent seasons though, so that's a bit worrying. In any case, our other LB, Lumor (who is on loan from Sporting) has been performing pretty well so far, so I'm not too worried over all in that position if Rahman Baba doesn't work out.

The budget caps that La Liga applies to each club was made official to the press yesterday:

This is why Mallorca couldn't spend much during the summer. Less than 30M€ to spend on players and staff transfers and wages (including the B-team, which plays in the 4th level); the smallest in the league.

As I've said before, it's going to be a very tough challenge to try to avoid the drop with such a small budget... but we can dream if the players perform at their best :)

Mallorca drew 0-0 at home against Athletic.

Very intense and crazy game. It's insane that there were no goals... so many chances for both sides, including a missed penalty for each team. My boy Aritz, whom in his last visit to Palma received a special welcome and award by the club, once again became our hero by missing his penalty in the 94th minute :D (well, our keeper saved it)

And then we had a rightfully disallowed goal in the 97th ^^

There were several insane saves by both keepers and both teams hit the post.

It was a really lovely game, and it's a shame we couldn't win it, but then again the match could have gone both ways so a draw is absolutely fair. It's not really a bad result if we take into account the fact that Athletic has a much better squad... but 4 points out of 12, considering we've played 3 games at home, isn't great. Then again, it's not like our expectations were much better than this. At least we've got games against Valencia, Athletic and Real Sociedad (3 teams that should finish in the top half of the table) out of the way. If we perform against the lower end teams, we might just have a chance at surviving.

Really hope your boys make it!

Meanwhile OHL is performing great. Current leader in the standings but we face a difficult game against Union today. If we win we are firm leaders
