No no, I meant genius in terms of the big contracts he's handing out for all the new arrivals. He's thinking he might be revolutionary with these contracts.

As for the price tag I agree... Really for 100m he'd have to play really well for it to be worth it or more than worth it.

ah ok, ya. 8 years is indeed highly unusual.

i don't quite understand the intention behind it tbh. if the player turns out to be a bust you're contractually obligated to pay him no matter what, and if he turns out to be prime messi, you'll have to renegotiate wages anyway at some point within its current length...

The long contract is probably just a financial exploit to spread the tranfer's cost over many years of depreciation, in order to not breach FFP.

its exactly that

its not the world, but they "save" some millions in the books every year by doing this

but since when do these contracts even exist? i was under the impression that 5 years are the maximum contract length

maybe thats old news

It's this, but seems highly risky. Baseball is not the same sport lol...

I can't imagine the long contracts will be something that they continue to do long term but it is a smart way to get the ball rolling in my opinion.

600M spent in 6 months

Benfica made near 6M in profit per game Enzo played for them

after dominating it for a long time, chelsea had somewhat fallen behind in the "soulless shit club that is completely destroying the sport with its financial exploits" category, being out-scummed by the likes of PSG and city in the last couple of years.

but holy shit are they determined to regain their title...
