where barrie is over after this year right?

all in all, i like colorados side

Same lol.
Like game wise, ya it's 1 sided as fuck. But rl wise, if those 2 players weren't gonna be in ur team, might as well get something for em and pull a Benning to let em go for nothing or rot

I don't think anyone in nhl will get a 2c for 4.5mil haha Thats foundational Sutter money!

Barrie is ufa next year yea.
I don’t know much about kerfoot but just looking at his numbers , 15-20g 40 in 2 years this far in his career I can’t see this as even.
You replace kadri’s production and add 1 year of a coveted rh d man while they retain salary all for a guy Toronto wanted to move. Rosen has some value too I have to assume. Main point is Toronto is not bargaining from a position of power these are moves they have to do to excape cap issues, why not exert that power a bit.

Pretty sure teams tried lol not much they can do if leafs are too tight against the cap to do anything.
However getting a 2c for 4.5mil for next 3 years is a huge steal if barrie wasn't gonna return with avs. Funny how avs are like the only team without cap issues and they get another gfg contract. Maybe sakic can convince rantanen to take a bargain contract too, so they can start a dynasty lmao

I'm not convinced he's a #2C. So right there the value isn't comparable to me, and you keep ignoring the fact we added a consistent 40pt player who is 4 years younger, to the trade. The 3rd shoud have been their 2nd at the very least.

If Colorado thinks they can push for a cup now there chances just got a lot lower without a Barrie caliber RH d. As good as their future blue line looks those guys aren’t filling those shoes next year.
If Colorado is building for when Makar / Bowen are established nhl d-men kadri is a pending UFA.

Idk how you can feel kadri isn't a 2c yet you feel kerfoot is a consistent 40pt player in just 2 yr sample. You do realize he actually played worse this season on 5v5, than his 1st? He got 16pts from pp and 12 of those are assist, 10 being secondary. I don't know if he will get as much pp time with the leafs to do that.

Kerfot wanted 4+ mil and Sakic didn't wanna pay him that much, didn't want him going to arbitration and let him walk for nothing if he declines the arbitration or force to pay the money. Another option is to trade him away...which is what he did. Sure, he coulda tried with another trade but maybe he didn't get enough interest.

I don't think makar needs 3 yrs to be established. He seemed as advertised in the small playoff sample to me. Probably find out this year or next. Having both Girard and makar makes barrie expendable, hence all those rumors of him being the "odd" one out. Bowen probably might be 3 yrs away from established but who knows.

I believe this trade makes Colorado a better team. They need forward depth, kadri isn't a bad player, he's just a troubled player who could possibly clean up his act on a new team. They were losing Barrie after a year anyhow

value wise the trade makes sense but I just don't see how the Avs are a better team right now for it. a year later sure, but unless there's another trade that Avs blue line doesn't look very good.
