Lou playing the long game.

Traded Schneider for 9th oa, which was horvat.

Now he traded for Horvat. He got em both!

What happens if horvat decides not to sign with nyi? Will they flip him again? Loool

Captain gone for a rather embarrassing return.

Years of poor decision making and bad contracts lead to this.

Pathetic. All we can hope is this spurs a full rebuild that should have happened 10 years ago.

The return isn't that bad for a player that probably wasn't going to stay tbh. Raty has great potential to be a top 6 center. Beauvillier is a decent player who can contribute and walk for free at the end of next season if he declines. The pick shouldn't have been protected as far as it did tho, maybe lottery protection at most.

What if Bo is a Sedin Spy and he just got the nucks a few pieces, they will tank now without him... bedard... then resigns in the summer. Stanley cup '24

math checks out

Even if he turns out to be a two-way 3C, I'm happy with that outcome. It's an important piece to most contenders.

two-way 2C would obviously be a nice bonus.

But the best part of this trade will probably/hopefully be the 1st round pick, especially if it's like 13th or 14th this year in a deep draft which would be like a 6-8ish pick in a regular draft?

Hoping it's not deferred to next year because it'll likely be a lower pick in a worse draft, not to mention the prospect will be a year behind in terms of development.

Raty is basically like what horvat was projected to be when we traded Schneider for the pick. Both biggest weakness was skating, however raty has far higher potential for everything else than horvat did I believe

If canucks get 13th to 16th pick, I think there is a RHD that may drop to that range and it'd be awesome to pick him up,and use the other for BPA.

Well the Horvat trade looks a hell of a lot better now after he signed that massive contract. 8.5/8 pretty damn steep for a 2nd line center.

Guess I will have to back down from my previous comments. Thought he was looking for ~ 6.5 -7 million on a hometown discount.

This could turn into a real win for the Canucks. Traded a player that turned out to get a bloated contract for some good potential pieces. Hope drafting and development hits a home run with one of these assets at least.

a pick around 15th could net a really good defenseman in a draft this deep.

Bring up some of the young guys and lets see what they got. There is a big spot to fill now.

If alvin talked with his agent, it was most likely that he would get it done for 6.5/7m avv range. The problem is they waited til he priced himself out this season, but even then I think paying Miller 8m for 7yrs is better than horvat 7m/8yrs.

Miller is definitely the better player, assuming he's not in bozo mode.

Let's hope Tocchet can figure him out. I don't care how much he produces, his antics are a detriment to a winning culture (and he's not even producing that much this year).
