The trend for cheapening out predates COVID so it's a clear strategic direction from Aquaman to micromanage and keep a skeleton crew. Which boggles the mind since Vancouver is one of the biggest bandwagon cities, at least when you compare attendance when the team sucks vs when it's good. The team WILL lose money if it sucks. Prices between 2009-2015 were soo high, very hard to pay anything less than $100 even for nosebleeds at a shitty game. Then when the team started sucking 50 bucks got you decent seats in pretty much any game not featuring a Canadian team. Not to mention that the Aquilinis have a ton of rentals in and around the arena, so if people don't care about the team they lose money there too.

Even though the team was still selling out most nights pre-COVID prices were way down by 2020. Our resale prices were actually cheaper than the Jackets and the Sabres lmao.

So to me Aquaman either is so much of a megalomaniac he thinks he can do a better job than a fully staffed hockey ops team... or he's preparing to sell the team by giving prospective owners a blank slate. He clearly knows how much the bottom line fluctuates when the team performs vs when it doesn't.

This is very true. The cheap bastard does not even see how bad it is from a business standpoint.... Let alone depriving players, fans and staff the best odds to win the cup.

It makes me wonder how a family can get so rich when they appear to have so little sense.... Maybe it was all generational wealth transfer and the current generation never actually learned anything about basic business practice and economics.

Canucks have recorded 29.6% of their points from defencemen this season, the highest percentage in the NHL.

Crazy just couple years ago, the Canucks had literally no point production from the backend lol. Also imagine if Lolnucks bottom 6 wasn't so offensively challenged

it's just the way this team is cursed right?? lol

when wright is eligible or bedard/mitckov, that's when lolnux win cup amirite?

Dhaliwal: I talk to hockey people around the league and they have no clue what John Weisbrod does in the #Canucks organization

LOL

Aqualini pays Weisbrod to do like nothing, but then let's Clark leave

I want Holland to lock up Barrie, I'm genuinely worried Barrie will become a canuck if he's a FA.

Former player Geoff Courtnall had influence on #Canucks ownership hiring GM Mike Gillis back in 2008.
Told Courtnall is name to watch as Canucks take stock of a difficult season & start planning for next year. Possible Courtnall could emerge with a front-office, hockey/biz role.
