"My understanding is that the #Canucks offered Brock Boeser a six-year deal worth $42M ($7M AAV) around the draft and were turned down. That might explain the stalemate today because now the agent *has* to do better for his client, & the Canucks have spent cap space on UFAs. "
makes sense i guess, woulda been nice if he just signed it at the draft.
now that he has to do better, i guess it's lookin like 7.5mil-8mil / 3 yr.
Funny how things have changed.
Before Rfa's would sign the 6-8 year long term. Now it seems many are chasing shorter bridge deals based on the belief the cap will rise and they can get an extra contract in before they begin to pass their prime.
I wonder how successful the players in leaning towards these shorter bridge deals.
Players targeting bridge deals must have a lot of belief in themselves. That confidence is a positive sign. They are willing to lose some guaranteed money because they figure they will show how good they are and earn even more down the road.
Horvats contract sure looks good right now.
