when i look at our roster compared to other playoff teams, the cards just dont stack up

It's just my opinion, but I also think Snitker misused so many of our pitchers Soroka/Fried/Teheran etc lol

Teheran - should never have been put into a high leverage situation in extra innings
Fried - pitched out of the bullpen when he was arguably our 3rd best starter all season..?
Soroka - easily our best pitcher but only pitched 1 game in a 5 game series
Folty pitched the game of his life in game 2 but did he really earn a spot over others to pitch game 5?

Atlanta was bad, really bad.

I don't think St. Louis was great but I thought Atlanta was embarrassingly bad. And what someone mentioned above Atlanta left a lot of base runners on. There are a few small things that could of won Atlanta one more game. Like scoring Acuna after a lead off double and Freeman just missing that ball over his glove at 1B. The only two hitters that were good were Swanson and Acuna, Albies was average and everyone else was poor at best.

I do agree it was a pretty poor series both ways.

I understood the Teheran situation because they were looking for length at that point in a tie game and didn't wanna risk burning up multiple guys in the bullpen.

The Fried decision was tougher I thought because Folty was better than Fried at the end of the year, and adding a lefty to the bullpen who could pitch multiple innings is valuable.

Soroka pitching one game is a straight joke.

Folty's game 2 gave him the right to pitch game 5, the only other option they had discussed was Tomlin and it was would been foolish to start Tomlin.

Braves sign Will Smith 3yr/$40m
I like it but I do feel like a frontline starter or power bat (resign Donaldson) should have came first. Hopefully those moves are still in the making

solidifies a really potent bullpen
will smith also said he was going to take the qualifying offer unless another team offered him a bigger deal; and he chose atlanta which is his hometown and growing up team
so braves basically had today in order to get the best bullpen addition available.. and they did
chris martin will probably be gone, just like he was in the playoffs
shane greene, mark melancon, will smith, luke jackson, darren oday

still have riley, waters, pache to come up some time in the next year or slightly after
donaldson just wants a multiyear deal, braves arent out of the running, but someone like the rangers could offer a boat for him

im thinking braves look more at a cheaper stopgap at 3b until riley figures out how to hit offspeed. someone like moustakas
i think they should re-sign donaldson or go after rendon but i assume rendon isnt even in the equation.
