Ramos was top, top level for how-many years. You simply can't compare the two.

VvD was a season's fluke. How many goals conceeded do liverpool average this season ?

Defence destroyed by the mighty Leeds and team trashed by worldbeaters Aston Villa.

2018/19 - won the champions league
2019/20 - won the premier league
2020/21 - too early to say, we're only 4 games in to the season!

It certainly hasn't helped Van Dijk that he played at Celtic and Southampton for years before joining a top club, whereas Ramos played at RM his whole career.

Van Dijk has been the best defender in the world for the past 2.5 years, but won't have the legacy that Ramos will have as he's won 4 CL, 2 or 3 La Liga, a World Cup and a Euros.

Ramos was the best defender in the world last year, he would have been competing for the Ballon d'Or. He's also a much bigger offensive threat than VVD will ever be. He's won 5 league titles not 2 or 3, he's also won 2 European Championships.

He dragged Madrid to that title last year almost single handed. At 34 he's one of the very best players in the world, at 29, in his prime, VVD is a walking liability for his team.

I didnt compared Virgil to Ramos, you talked about this comparism.
I just wanted to point Ramos was much more helped than Virgil is.

At least, his level is nearer to Ramos than to Lovren as you said. As a LFC fan, im realy happy with him being in squad

Van Dijk was just as good last year as in the CL winning season so better than Ramos.

Ramos scores a lot of pens and free kicks that pad his stats. VVD doesn't and gets more goals from CB than any other in the league.

Just stop, you're embarrassing yourself. Ramos was the key reason Madrid had the best defensive record in Europe last season, he was among the 4 or 5 best players in the world, something he's continuing through this season.

It's also not just his goals, if you watched Madrid you would understand how incredible his forward passing is and how vital he has been to their attack building. Ramos has far superior long pass accuracy, whereas VVD tendss to give possession away when he attempts it.

VVD needs to go up a level yet to be compared to Ramos, instead he's actually declined this season so far. He can't drop that level then have fans saying he's better than Ramos, that's ridiculous.

VVD's long passing is exquisite, if you watched Liverpool you would understand how incredible his forward passing is and how vital he has been to their attack building.

Ramos also plays next to Varane who is levels above Gomez and Matip, so his defensive record should be better despite not being as good as VVD.

20% less accuracy, nice try though. VVD makes half his long passes, Ramos makes 3/4.

VVD has had defensive pairings who played well, it's Ramos who makes his partners better, e.g. the Man City 2nd leg. This is something VVD lacks, his leadership level is nowhere near.

Kind of pointless discussing this with Liverpool fans though.

I thought he would be reasonable and honest. :(

Maybe one day VVD will reach Ramos level and be dominant in the defensive world of football for nearly 2 decades. He reached near that level in one season, just like when Liverpool fans tried putting Salah on Messi and Ronaldo level due to one season where he was almost as good. His performances for Holland lately have been on Harry Maguire level.

Im a LFC fan obviously but i never though Salah was on same level than Messi and Ronaldo :o he shouts like my grand mother and he has a very high capacity of not seeing Mane and Firmino for an aasist

You know that fan comes from fanatism, and there is rarely reasonability and honesty in fanatism ;)
