no, it isn't marginal, it's massive, Smartt's a great player no question but Holiday is a very significant upgrade



I'm not a vehement stats guy like I used to be, but the two strongest all-in-one stats that NBA teams and scouts themselves have said are the ones they use are DARKO and EPM

DARKO (darko.app) has him as the 6th best player in the NBA and EPM (dunksandthrees.com) has him at 22nd

i'm trying to find the article I read, somebody interviewed a bunch of NBA scouts and whomever else would be invested in stats, and they all gave their opinions on what stats they actually cared about and those two were #1 and #2 (DARKO was #1 by far)

talking out of your rear is really cool too, Holiday is most certainly not an elite offensive talent rofl, and there are a minimum of 25 guys anyone with one iota of a brain cell left would take over Holiday

over holiday generally or over holiday offensively? cause offensively yeah, there are 25 better offensive players, but as a complete package with 50% of the game being defense, he's elite and easily top 25

just look at the fucking haul it took to get him, they traded 2 firsts and 2 good players just for him

Lets say we were drafting from the following players, you're telling me Holiday is going in the top 10? I think he gets drafted around 30-40 (context only to win a title this year, not team building for development/prospecting)

I'll take Ingram and Sabonis in a heart beat before Holiday, only way someone picks Jrue before them is based purely on team fit

Butler absolutely roasted Holiday so idk how he still has this elite defender status

Butler's also one of the greatest players ever and would roast virtually everybody

What was the all mighty Giannis doing while seeing what was going on? Instead of taking on the matchup, he did absolutely nothing. He chose to stay on Kevin Love and whatever other bum he could sag off to play help defense instead of clamping the only Heat option.

Champion and MVP….all he did was wait for the series to end to throw his coach under the bus….

“Wish i could have guarded Jimmy more”….wanted the matchup? Pfft where

One of his weakest moves yet

on the way to the title (Heat swept in the 1st rd) Giannis guarded Butler very effectively, so idk how the implication here is that Giannis ducked it.
