Safest method is to use a Mediator.

Read about about it here: https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=11

If you find people won't trade with you because they don't want to use a mediator for 5fg items, don't be alarmed. Scamming is not an uncommon occurrence on jsp, but everyone on here is not out to get you. The vast majority of people on this site are actually quite nice.

Just use your best judgement and for big purchases ALWAYS use a mediator and/or document the entire transaction with photos etc. You can learn about what items an s/a helper or staff member will require you to present in the event you were scammed and prepare by documenting those things in advance. Read the links in post #2 and #3 from top to bottom. Don't take any short cuts and you'll be just fine. Again, this isn't a place where everyone is just out scamming each other. It does happen, but not something you should fear on a daily basis. Most people like myself will understand your concern and I'd just drop the item on the ground since I can tell you made a post like this and are probably less likely to scam. Generally people follow a rule of 2/3. post count/fg/joined date (whoever has a higher posts/fg/join by 2 is the one who gives second) This is not recommended for safety reasons, but it's definitely a common practice amongst jsp'ers. It's rare to see someone with an earlier join date scamming. Most of them got that out of their system in 2004 ;)

id say jsp is reletevly safe place to trade, try to trade with users with high post count & older join date, and i guess untill you get both of this you will be asked to sent first fg or drop ingame goods first too
