I suggest you keep the magician and make a few more other characters. Make a rogue, make a fighter, make a barb…..see what play style you like best. You can always ise the unloved characters as mules (characters that you store items you wish to keep but dont have room on your main character.
Bad news: your ee weapon on your magician is almost useless for him (unless you like banging things with a stick). Magicians need ee charms and use mana for their attacks. Sadly you run out of mana quickly so you need to either constantly shrine items in the town shrine, equip mana regen gear in town, or wait in town to fill back up.
Good news is you can use that ee staff for a rogue. Rogues are nice because they ignore trap doors so you can explore all catacombs without worrying about falling through a trap doors.
