We are in the process of the Western and Ukrainian sides gradually and grudgingly agreeing to fundamental concessions and Putin agreeing to virtually none.

This process is largely about virtue-signalling theatrics. All parties know what the realistic parameters of the future deal are (very unfair to Ukraine). They know that there is likely no military or economic tools to change it before Ukraine reaches its pain barrier.

The main obstacle is selling this rather unavoidable outcome to audiences that were deliberately misled about it for years. It is easier for Trump who is not invested in this conflict (only in ending it). It is much harder for Europeans. For Zelensky, it is an existential matter.

But this war shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Russia has the cards right now. What's Trump supposed to do, nuke Moscow? I know you hate the president but grown ups life in reality and need to make big kid decisions sometimes
