i think they'll toss out a round of missiles at "military targets", aka not Kiev, and that will be the only response. largely agree. but then he's still down in the win/loss for any negotiation, imo. so hard to predict.

I'm rooting for "shooting down a satellite"
nobody gets killed, everyone goes nuts, people doomsay over its effects on space exploration but it really won't matter much, and the US/EU are forced to engage with how they're supposed to react to the reaction

Thought about this. Idk the physics of it but would that cause a bunch of fast flying debris that could knock out secondary satellites i would think.

i'd think it could take out unintended targets near the exploded satellite, but anything further out should be ok as its all in orbit and exploded material would reenter the orbit ellipse fairly quickly. but tbh i have no idea how that field of orbit is navigable at all, its always amazed me that satellites can obit and be fired into orbit without hitting space junk, of which there is a LOT. I'd bet we have rovers clearing out space junk sometime in the future, likely before we even clear out the pacific garbage patch, more economic incentive to clear out orbit.

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space

There are only three ways of fighting terrorism. Scorched earth ethnic cleansing, bribing them outright to join your cause instead or submitting to their demands.

Since Russians will not be allowed scorched earth ethnic cleansing and they will probably not submit to the demands of terrorists, their only way is to buy Azov Nazis (like they did with Chechens) and use them to turn the tide.

They figured it out with Chechens, sure where there is a will, there is a way.

Isn't a key component of pacifying Chechnya that Kadyrow rules it with an iron fist on behalf of the Kremlin? Moscow got the region under control by a combination of bribes and deterrence. They don't have the same kind of power in Ukraine, so this carrot-and-stick approach shouldn't work.
