There is no mechanism to remove zelensky.

its a bit like the coalition of the willing, there is no mechanism to make it viable

its a bit of a conundrum.

It is impossible for us to know under what type of pressure Zelensky really is. He could be trapped and under the thumb of oligarchs, he can have Azov types watching his every move. I do think there's probably at least some threat factor to him to stay in line.

The logical thing for him eventually is to get out of dodge and eventually leave the country and settle somewhere nice with lots of money, off the grid, with some protections, i.e. Poroshenko style. No matter what happens, he's going to be scapegoated, but if i was him, I'd want my immediate family to be in a safe place, whether it's from internal threats or GRU or who ever else.

If Zelensky is removed things would happen very fast, NOT GOOD for Ukaine. Therefore Ukraine and Europe do not under any circumstances want to have him removed.
The US appears to have tried to remove him via halting the aid but Ukraine called his bluff, and Ukraine won.

its really very tricky to determine what happens next, other then Russia slowly but inexorably advancing.

Moscow controlled all decision-making in the USSR.

The majority of top Soviet leaders, including Lenin, Stalin, Brezhnev, and Gorbachev, were from Russia (although Brezhnev was born in Ukraine, he identified as Russian).

The Russian Communist Party was the largest and most powerful within the Soviet system.

Ukraine also had strong nationalist movements that resisted Soviet rule.

Sure there could have been many communist party members in Ukraine, but back then ONE HAD to join a party to get promoted, to be an important person in the country. and people obviously wanted to be promoted and important so they signed the papers.

Not all is well in mordor
https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/29/europe/ukraine-russia-war-belgorod-intl/index.html

Ukrainian forces have responded to Russian efforts to expel them from one part of Russian territory by launching a large number of attacks on another border area, using drones, artillery and troops.

More than 20 villages in Russia’s Belgorod region – which are located in a 150-kilometer (90-mile) stretch of land along the Ukrainian border – have come under attack, according to the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov. The Ukrainian military has not officially acknowledged the operation.

A minor observation.

While Russia continues its offensive, and it is expected to go up a gear, there is no evidence to support a total Ukrainian defeat is possible in 2025. The worst that could happen is Russia solidifying what it has and taking another bite. I feel that as Russia's goal is not to take over all of Ukraine, it is hamped long term from having a solution to the conflict. From a militarily point of view, 5M additional russian troops and invading all of Ukraine is the most logical step, but thats not happening. Therefore, for now, we should expect the war to continue into 2026.

Ultimately, as noted previously, it would be a catastrophe, from a Ukrainian regime and Western leaders stand point, if anything happened to Zelensky, and therefore while he stays at the helm we should not expect positions to change, for now.
i.e. Trumps fingers poked, he met stiff resistance, and he appears to have taken a more neutral approach, unable to force the issue.
