That's what Russia wants to get long term. The war will restart inevitably at some point until they'll get to that point. Baltics are probably pissing their pants.

Well sure, but given their performance and EU4 War score in this one, where is Russia going to find another million dudes to throw into the drone meatgrinder in order to march that far? I really doubt it. They don't have the manpower, or political will, not for a long time.

They might be able to take Odessa. I don't think they can push that far.

Russia is a cleptocracy. Most of the people over there are living from the leftovers by the oil/natural resources industry. They could lose 500 000 men and couldn't care less. If we did the same in western Europe, the economy would collapse. Very different mentality and living style, that's why they can field 1 000 000 soldiers without problems who'd fulfill their role like true lemmings. Try to do the same with they/them in western Europe or better said good luck with that. The danger is real. Europe has to arm up fast and have an edge on Russia through quality, not quantity.
yes this is accurate (the area). i am not convinced they will go back to war if there is a peace, but i accept the western narrative is that russia wants to invade europe ( i just dont agree with it ). i mean, if there is no negotiation, then the area you highlighted...ye
i.e. maybe not all of that if they say peace today, but in a few months time all bets are off and the area you highlighted looks to be the area of interest.

Russia won't invade Europe. They aren't stupid. Just think of Ukraine and the Baltics as the new Poland of old. I don't want them that close to Germany, I think Poland neither. They'll try to push back and geographically isolate Ukraine as much as possible. We should support western Ukraine and resist that pushback. Big problem is Russia would think twice or thrice in the past about attacking the Baltics with economic ties to EU. Now, they couldn't care less with all of the sanctions around. They don't want to be totally dependent on China either. Europe should take the approach of cooperating with Russia again while arming up to the teeth. Europe AND Russia are between a rock and a hard place right now.

Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania ?

I dont see Russia invading them. I dont mind being in disagrement on this point, as alot of real threats are present now and this is more a question for the future.

I don't see them invading the Baltics. if they do it, they might lose the Chinese and Indians.

They'll be doing hybrid warfare USaid style. Destabilizing the border region, disinformation, supporting extremists etc. until they become unstable for regime swoops. Whatever you accuse USA of Russia is also capable of and they've done it countless times in Africa, former Soviet countries etc.

This is not Russia's way of doing things. If it was, Ukraine would never have had their adventure. I must strongly disagree with your viewpoint.

My response is : the US is very good at accusing other countries of behavior that it does. I dont agree that Russia acts in the same way. If it did we would have seen more conflicts between Russia and its neighbors in Asia. The fact that Russia has actually resolved the vast majority of its border disputes refutes your argument I feel.

and agan, we can agree to disagree, im not precious on any of these points.

it is worth noting that the message in the west that we have been getting for years now is that Ukraine is not ready to surrender. they want to keep fighting until they reclaim everything. Its very hard for them to move from that position without being utterly rekt first.
