It was totally unnecessary for JD and Trump to try to humiliate Zelensky like that. From an emotional pov, I can understand why Zelensky didn't take the abuse and lashed out. He's still a complete moron for having done that. No matter how much it would suck for him personally to kiss Trump's feet, doing exactly that would have been the right play here. Get the mining deal signed, curry favor with Trump, give him something tangible with which he could justify continued assistance for Ukraine in front of his MAGA base. Also, the more interests or investments the US have in Ukraine, the more willing they will be to defend those interests.

Zelensky is a bit like a girl which was captured by human traffickers, bit her pimp while he was trying to break her in, so now she will get sold off to a different, even more violent pimp who will abuse her even worse.

Russia was trying to have a security deal for Ukraine worked out with both the Biden Administration and Germany for over a year before the war looking for guarantees that they would not be in NATO.
Is he implying that Russia was also not having these conversations with Ukraine's government?
We all know this wasn't a well planned out invasion, that it was just pieced together in a short matter of time because Joe Biden was touting in December of 2021 that "We are fast tracking Ukraine into nato"
