Yhe EU is set to send Ukraine an unprecedented aid package of up to €700 billion ($732 billion), though details are murky at present.

The package would not be announced until after the Feb. 23 German elections, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock told Bloomberg on the sidelines of the Munich meeting, as reported by German outlet Berliner Zeitung.

This would definitely bolster the EU's reputation for sure. Imagine if America thought it could decide European affairs without the Europeans present, and Europe decides to bankroll ukraine even without uncle sam's greenbacks. Its also not just about the dollary-doos, but if the euros will allow ukraine to buy more advanced European military tech.

They're poor and can't afford it. Unless they want to hyperinflate the Euro and print that 700 billion.

An 11 year old meme, and still as relevant as ever:

I personally know developer/project manager for automations of Gefran (a company we sometimes order machines from). He needed to visit China and Japan. He told me their culture requires them to work long ours and the working day was too long for him. When Chinese workers came to the Italian plant in Brescia province, they were totally exhausted after a 8h day because the working pace is totally different.
The example may be anecdotical but both Chinese and Italians are human being. You can't concentrate too long or exercise the same amount of productivity over a long span of time. It's much more likely that Asians work longer hours with more people and less intensity while people in western 1st world countries get done just as much in 8 hours per day. No company pays you for just sitting there, so both kinds of people get the work done.

Asia hasn't yet adopted the ruthless efficiency of the Protestant Work Ethic, wherein the British Empire set the bar across all of Western civilization

Our efficiency is why we can get the same work done in less hours, leaving more hours for family & exercise

Japan however to my knowledge still has a robust hard working efficient work culture as narrated by Tom Cruise

Government spending in the EU stood at over 7.5 trillion euros in 2022, and that's without the UK (and Norway).

It's a stupid idea and I reject it, but it would be more "easily" feasible than you think.

edit: trillion, not billion...

No way this is real life. It probably depends on what it's going towards. To continue the war or also includes reconstruction dollars? If i had to guess it's probably over a long period of time and includes some form of repayment in form of commodity exports, at least i would think.

If it's towards reconstruction post war it makes sense. If it's to continue the war, the Euros are going full retard and want to make sure no Ukrainian male remains.

edit: but no one should be surprised. I mean we all knew our German friends are going to be bag holding when it's all said and done. Stevie Wonder could see that shit coming.

And what is the deficit on that? What fraction of the deficit would 700 billion represent?

It's printing even more money they don't have = more and more inflation

It really depends on the timeframe. Incrasing the budget by almost 10% in one year without anything to offset it would of course cause inflation. Increasing the budget by 2% over a span of 5 years, probably not that big of a problem.

There wouldn't be any Ukrainians left after 5 years, it's madness plain and simple there's no sugarcoating it, printing money destroying your own civilization to keep funding a bloodbath

Like I said: it's a stupid idea and I reject it. Nonetheless, your objection that it wouldn't be economically feasible is probably wrong (depending on the details of this plan).
