Yeah, that's why I was so confused. Scholz took the reduced US engagement for Ukraine as a justification to declare a budgetary emergency, which gives him the ability to suspend Germany's constitutional "debt brake" with regard to military spending. Tldr: this creates the legal basis for debt-financed military spending which doesn't cut into other areas of the budget, say social spending or healthcare.

These legal shenanigans have nothing to do with a state of emergency in the way the term is usually understood, with curfews or suspended civil rights.

no idea, it was very brief though. my argument was Zelensky was elected on a mandate to end the war and reconcile with Russia. it was only 2-3 posts, nothing of substance.

And end the war he did with the help of Cookie Monster, good old Joe and the Spirit of John Mc Cain
