No your statement is simply wrong. Let me try it differently:

I dont buy your premise that a god exists due to lack of evidence. This is extremely simple.
If we could successfully perform tests that proves the existence of god, then I would say "ok god absolutely exists and let me worship him".

BUT until then I don't assume he exists, regardless of what a book says.

It sounds logical to me.
