it is so hard to get through the game by myself as a sorceress like honestly i want to understand how to do it on hardcore because i have to put all my points into vitality and on the other hand i have to worry about my mana and use my spells to kill things. I'm talking about a COLD sorceress, by the way... I do NOT want to use chant games, I do NOT want to get a helping hand by anyone else (no friends anyway to play with) so I will do it privately (players 1, probably) and I don't want to have to respec... I am not used to respecs anyways... So I forgot how I used to do it honestly I think I always just used to get rushed or something but this is crazy because I feel like I got worse at the game from all these years of not having played it as much and I can't get through the game... but also, i NEVER used to play on hardcore mode so I am not used to having to dump ALL my points into vitality... I used to always put most of my points into energy and then put only a few into vitality on softcore and then I'd always do like ES or something but it's like not possible on hardcore mode...

what am i doing wrong????? :( i hate not having mana with my ice sorceress in the beginning. I mean, it's like impossible to play until you get insight or something like frostburns/spirit/mana on fcr rings.. like i just HATE running out of mana so much it's like the worst thing in the world to me to run out of mana, but I also am understanding that maxing out energy shield/telekenesis is going to be terrible because then it's consuming my mana even while I'm trying to spam my spells. :( I think I just hate it because no matter what my mana is going to go down.. and like i don't wanna play a summoner necro or druid because tehy kill bosses so damn slow... and paladins kill bosses slow and so does everythink else basically i just lvoe the sorc cuz she can statis the boss..

is it possible to do an orb sorceress and max warmth out? idk this is so tough i cant do this !!!! -.- (hardcore is really hard on my favorite class, sorceress when playing by myself. it's like i just am forced to go very slow through the game or something?) :( <3

You are putting restrictions on a game that is already hard. Then you decide to go hardcore and make it harder. When I play sorc single player I still put points into energy early on. Like 20.

The rest of it is just knowing what is available to you here are some examples

1.stanima potions for running
2.antidote potions for Andriel
3.ruby in helm for life
4.topaz or diamond in shield for act 2 light res
5.thawing potion for duriel
6.stealth armour
7.fcr wands from merchant
8.need fcr as much as you can find
9.ral ort tal in shield for resistances
10.once you get to nm vendor boots gloves belt with resistances or life
11.lower resists wand from vendor
12.farm countess for spirit and insight to make game ez

If you decide to skip steps you are just hindering yourself more.

Mhm. Hardcore is a different league altogether. And sorceress may be the most difficult class to start with, without help or gear. So you put the bar high for yourself. The first lesson in hardcore, if you want to survive, is to learn to have patience and make steady progress. One step at a time.

The best thing to do is to begin with warmt, and skill fire bolt. When you get to level 6, skill static field and fire bolt every other level. Progress may be a bit slow, but this is for the better for later.

Cold skills probably can work as well, i haven't done that route in normal. I imagine that glacial spike is pretty efficient.

When you get to level 12, fire ball becomes available. This should be your main skill through entire normal, along with static field for large high hit point groups, until you reach level 30. Then hydra is a great skill.

Static field is very overpowered in normal, since you can drain enemy hit points down to 1% if necessary. Nightmare too, down to 25% hp. That includes bosses as well. Though some monsters and bosses have lightning resist, and may take a few casts to bring down, when you get static to level 15+, it hits for a very long range and is extremely efficient. Only when you get to hell mode and is well equipped, can you consider ditching it and focusing on hydra and frozen orb.

Now to the mana problem. It is well known that this is a problem. Sacrificing gear slots for socketed armor and helmets with sapphire gems is the best way to increase mana. Using pots is not to get around, you have to use them, and use them often. Collect armors and staves/wands and sell them to get gold to buy mana pots. Sacrifice a few points in strength to use heavy belt, to get 3x4 pot slots.

One technique to mitigate mana spending, is this: You herd the monsters a little bit. Herd them into a pack. Start using spells while kiting them or having the merc engage them if he or she can tolerate it. When you use spells, use a mana pot or two. Mana and health potions don't give you mana or health outright, it increases the regeneration rate. This way, you can make the regeneration last for a longer time, making you able to keep casting mana-costly spells for a longer time until it either refills, breaking the regeneration, or empties.

Either way, remember that this is one of the most difficult ways to begin on the ground level, so be patient and make steady progress.

One big ace in the hole you have as a sorceress using high level static field in normal and nightmare, is doing baalruns. The 5 packs baal drops, is very easy to defeat when just spamming static field. This is very valuable to other players too if you play multiplayer. This also makes baalruns easier... making you find gear faster.

I don't play d2r, so i don't know if quest bugging is an option. If it is, you should check it out: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=71142281

But when you get hardcore to work, it is very rewarding and exhilarating. This is my season so far:

Make sure to update when time has passed.

And a few more pointers ^^

- Cold enchanted boss monsters has been my biggest bane in hardcore. With low hit point characters like sorceress, when you get to nightmare and hell, if you don't have +50% cold resist, they can hit for a good 300-400 hit points in nightmare and 800 hit points in hell. Along with a few stray shots, it's a quick ko if you don't stay well out of that frost nova range. Stay away from them. The same goes for fire enchanted monsters. Lightning too, but that is pretty self expanatory.

- Drinking many thawing potions before bosses that deal cold damage, both for you and your merc, gives an additive 30 second +50% cold resist boost, which can make boss fights much easier.

- Don't trust anyone in public games. Or at least be very wary. There are lots of evil players that would like nothing more than to play tricks on you and kill your character. Even low level characters can deal obscene amounts of damage and kill you off-screen. One known strategy is to use a hydra sorceress .. when in baalrun.. you wait for the packs, they place hydras close to you, then make a tp and hostile you, you die within 0.1 seconds. I escaped this with an equal amount of time once. Just save and exit whenever in doubt.

- And regarding that: There is no shame in saving and exiting ^^ Some may see it as cheating. But i say that the game is hard enough as it is. If you corner yourself or see that you're gonna die in 1 second, saving and exiting is one strategy that is available. The game is about learning from mistakes. It is too unforgiving to have to play 50-100 hours releveling a character and losing all that gear for one little mistake.

- The reason i suggested hydra is not just because it deals good damage and is safe to use, you can cast it through doors and around corners, thereby identifying if there is a boss pack there waiting to ambush you. Make sure to keep good distance, because when you damage them, they will come running for you. That is generally a necessity in hell mode, keeping a long distance to your foes. They can run very fast, deal 200 hit points each hit, and even 0.2 second lag may mean your death.

- Don't be brave and try to tank, unless you know 100% certain you can do it. Experimenting can be dangerous.. curiosity killed the cat ^^ Sometimes it is better not to find out how much damage one can take.

I guess that's all i have for now.
