For one handed weapons, the reason why there is no mention of grief (it should really be mentioned in the guide! even if its not used in pvp tournaments) is because it is considered lame/bm in the wider melee community. Right?
Hi Ferdia! At the beginning, this guide mentions that it's for gm melee wolf druids but does contain useful information for people interested in wolf druids more broadly. So, while the gear/builds are definitely geared towards gm melee, someone that is interested in wolf druids (but not gm melee) would still find this guide useful in terms of information about IAS, FHR, and other mechanics-oriented stuff. Grief is not just considered lame, it's completely banned in gm melee and I think this has now extended to all other countries as well. Korea were the last ones had that Grief unbanned and they just recently made the decision to completely ban it as far as I'm aware. Given this is not a "pub dueling" guide, mentioning Grief may not have been necessary and could have taken up more space. The guide in its current version was already so long that it may have become unruly if we were to add another section about pub duels where Grief could be used (and that really could be its own guide entirely).

my contribution to the topic via the maxroll char planner. feel free to tinker with this to your hearts content of course (is it calc's ias right?) I did this pretty fast.
BOTD setup:
https://d2.maxroll.gg/d2planner/rz0106qb 2 skillers, x1 ias/ed jewel. 9607 life, 2999def, maxblock, 2319-8018. 5.43 attacks per second (45,223 damage per second). there looks to be little difference between 3/20/20 and 1/45's.
There is a noticeable difference using 37x 3/20/20s and 9x 45 life SS gc's for certain weapons. Like Jay stated, using low average damage weapons means you should probably use 3/20/20s (or as close as you can get since 3/20/20s are not affordable) because they will benefit far more from the +3 max damage on the small charm versus the ED you would get from the 1+ skill on the GC. The consensus is though that for higher average damage weapons, sticking to 9x 45 life SS gc's is probably a safe bet.
