Ye i mean it was more in terms of gameplay / itemisation / "tricks" etc the "There is no more, no less, no secret builds or tactics than what you see listed here. This is what it was in its entirety" sounded pretty delusional. But ye its still good reading material to discover new build.
Nope
The guides listed in mainstream are the builds that people played for 15 years or more before being identified as Diablo 2 competitive meta-game.
And boy oh boy, no rock was left unturned in terms of testing and dabbling in every possible way in attempts to tweak existing builds, find new builds that were stronger, or at least tweak to be able to counter.
Sure we could argue about small variations in build suggestions like "Should I get light or cold res on my rare diadem" when everything else on your build is the same as the other guy,
but that would be ridiculous to claim that the two build structures were not the same build. Unless Diablo 2 patching has undergone some serious overhauls since I've been absent,
the builds listed in mainstream are the only builds that worked as meta or at least to viability amongst meta, when it came to people getting serious and getting together for real tournaments.
And even then during real tournaments or any serious competition in general that absolutely pushed the limits of the game mechanics, it always amounted down to 3x builds being the top meta:
1. Ele Druids - 2. Bone Necros - 3. Trap Assassins
^ Historically these 3 build structures were always top dog in 1v1 competition under GM ruling. Sometimes a different class would poke in for a moment as a champ but it wouldn't last long.
You can also quote me for saying: "If you have better guides, post them" several times on every page of this thread, since page 1. The first post was made in 2011.
So if you think this list is delusion, feel free to find or create better guides and post them as always.
I mean after 9 years and 1/10th of a million views to build what we have already in this list, I would love to see what you could come up with.
