restart pc, close everything all battle nets, all clients and start over, try running 2nd, log into character screen, close handle, try to run 1st.

You basically have just one battle net installation, but what happens when you use the launcher - it will start battle net and it will update the path to that particular game copy, (+handle is gone, process path is different) and that will allow you to run it twice.

So I just moved the game copy to a completely different SSD, and now it works fine. When I have both game copies on the same SSD, it tried to use the same game copy.

Weird, I guess at least it is working now.

Mm strange, maybe you could clean up the battle net cache (there are guides on google) / restart pc, dunno. Seems like some temporary / cached thing. Or do clean battle net installation. But at least you got it working somehow, so you can do the actual stuff.

Has anyone who used this method been banned?

Did a check on this awhile ago(one of community manager responded to post on bnet forums)...basically if is fine to use multiple accounts on the same pc as long as you adhere to the 1stroke 1action rule (eg. So no pressing 1key and having all accounts perform an action). Old fashion way of alt tabbing is fine.
