How is vengeance damage calculated? Simplified version plz i read some guides but they hhad me confused do i want high phys dmg on wep or something like gimmershred with alot of elemental dmg?

High physical damage will convert to elemental damage.

I think Grief damage will still be Grief dmg though, my Avenger owns pretty well.

you want high weapon physical damage, but not grief. grief's damage does not work with vengeance.

lets say you have Breath of the dying with 100min 500max dmg. Your max damage would be calculated as following:
Your vengeance skill adds 200% each type of elemental damage. This will lead to maximum dmg of: 500max physical, 1000 fire dmg 1000 light dmg 1000 cold dmg. --> 3500max dmg.

Above it is correct that Grief isn't usable cuz of how the +dmg works.

The best option available for this build would be an auradin with :

1. Doom BA
2. Dragon armour
3. Dream helmet
4.1 Phoenix (if you can have enough hrs)
4.2 Hoz (if you cannot get these runes)

I agree with this setup but have another question. Which merc to use with these equipment? Does might affect the physical damage converted to elemental? We got HF covered with Doom and if we want more damage, should we go for Act 2 Offensive?

+% Elemental damage is calculated using physical weapon damage, before off-weapon +% Damage and Critical Strike or Deadly Strike are applied: think of it as +% elemental damage. Thus only the following are used, in order:
Weapon base damage
Ethereal bonus
Weapon % Enhanced Damage and % Enhanced Maximum Damage (Based on Character Level)
+ Minimum Damage and + Maximum Damage (including that Based on Character Level)
+% Elemental damage is also calculated before Damage + is applied.
+% Skill Damage from items and Fire Mastery and Lightning Mastery skills is applied after Vengeance's +% elemental damage.

I would say more the act 2 mercenary in nightmare via the Thorn one. He has a good defence against physical damages and might aura won't help as many as Thorn aura because your main character will do enough damages with his multiple elemental aura.
